Just 4 Moms & Kids is a parent-run, not-for-profit co-operative — which means every enrolled family is already a member, with a voice in how the Centre is run.
Did you know? As a J4MK family, you're automatically a member of our co-op and eligible to vote for — or stand for election to — our Board of Directors. No extra sign-up needed.
How the year unfolds
Monthly meetings
The Board meets roughly once a month, 1–2 hours each, to discuss Centre business and decisions.
E-votes by email
Urgent matters between meetings are decided by quick email votes — easy to take part in from anywhere.
Annual General Meeting
The whole community reviews the year's finances and votes in a new Board. All families are encouraged to attend.

Common questions
- Do I need experience to join?
- No. Roles are filled based on willingness and enthusiasm — not formal qualifications. Current Board members can help new members get oriented.
- What's the actual time commitment?
- At minimum, about 12 meetings a year at 1–2 hours each, plus occasional email votes on urgent items. Some roles (like President) may involve more.
- How do I get on the Board?
- Board members are nominated and elected at the Annual General Meeting, held each October. Let a Supervisor know if you're interested — they can walk you through what's involved.
- Is there a cost or pay involved?
- Board service is volunteer — there's no pay, fees, or financial benefit, in keeping with our not-for-profit status.
- What if I just want to stay informed without joining?
- That's great too. All families are welcome at the AGM, and the annual Parent/Guardian Survey is another way to make your voice heard.
